コッツウォルズ連丘のなかでも屈指の美しさの村です。百年以上前のこの村の写真が村の雑貨屋にありましたが、写真と見比べても、全く変わっていませんでした。そして写真のように雨に濡れるとライムストーンの家々が、深いはちみつ色になりとっても素敵です。 葉桜になってしまいましたね。もう少し早くくれば見ごろだったんですが。イギリスの桜やアーモンドってホントきれいですよ。日本のサクラの繊細な咲き方も好きですけど、ボリューム満点のこちらのサクラも素敵です。桃や梅もとってもきれいですよ。葉桜の向こうに見えるのは、14世紀に歴史を遡る由緒あるマナー・ハウス(現在はホテル) なんとゴルフ場付きです。それもそのはず、10万㎡も敷地があるのだから。うらやましい・・・そして建物の中はもっと素敵でした。 |
